13.83 kW rooftop solar — Northridge
A 13.83 kW system in Northridge. Installed 2026. Clean, low-profile panel layout that follows the roof lines.
Cali Energy is a local, full-stack-licensed solar installer and battery-storage company serving Northridge — part of the City of Los Angeles served by LADWP. Because LADWP isn't on the CPUC's NEM 3.0 tariff, net metering in Northridge stays more favorable than in neighboring SCE areas, so paybacks remain strong. We're based in Northridge and do every step in-house — solar panels, battery backup, roofing and electrical — under one CSLB license (#1032379: B, C-10, C-39). Below are real Northridge installs, from a 5.1 kW rooftop to a 13.83 kW system.

Twenty Northridge case studies go further than the photographs above — what the roof was, what the service took, how the permit and the interconnection actually ran, and what happened after the system was switched on. A few properties appear twice: the installation and the service call years later are separate stories.
More than half of the 10,887 single-family homes in Northridge's two ZIP codes, 91324 and 91325, were built before 1960. Parts of Northridge also lie in mapped methane zones, where extra conditions apply to the meter position and the grounding: on a 2023 job inside one, Cali Energy set and bonded the grounding electrode before the inspection, and the system was switched on three weeks after the application.
Two houses on one Northridge street, with the same S-tile roof and the same 370-watt modules, needed different electrical work in the winter of 2021–22. The single-storey house connected twenty-three modules to its existing 225-amp busbar, the two-storey house got a new 200-amp service for its twenty-six, and both had permission to operate by 8 February 2022.
Main panel upgrades in Northridge →Thirteen systems in Northridge's ZIP codes report to our monitoring: two have run for more than five years, and two include a home battery. We also take on arrays other companies installed: behind one in 2024 we replaced the main panel, added a 200-amp sub-panel and redid the wiring, and the system received permission to operate that August.
Solar repair in Northridge →On one Northridge house we replaced the roof in 2020, put solar on it the next spring and later came back to install a car charger on the same electrical service as the solar. In Northridge a charger is LADBS electrical work, and we file the permit.
EV chargers in Northridge →We have replaced three Northridge roofs ahead of solar since 2020, from twenty-eight to thirty-one squares. On the 2023 house the tear-off found damaged sheathing, which we replaced before laying a cool-rated shingle, and twenty-five modules were connected on the new roof that October. A roof near the end of its life, replaced before the solar, avoids paying for a removal and reinstall later.
Roofing in Northridge →One licensed contractor covers solar, battery, roofing and electrical, so the job does not get handed between companies.
