Six of our eleven home case studies in Van Nuys are on lots with a second or third dwelling, an ADU or a house built under the state lot-split law, and LADWP treats each separately metered home as its own customer. On one lot with an existing house and a new lot-split home, Cali Energy took both through review on the same day in March, worked directly with LADWP's meter installation group, and both net meters were set on the same day in May 2025.
On a 2023 Van Nuys house a derate to 175 amps let forty-two modules connect to the existing 200-amp panel, and the net meter was set ten weeks after the application. On another, every breaker position was already taken, so no derate could help; the array went in on new service equipment and was switched on in March 2022.
Main panel upgrades in Van Nuys →On a newly built Van Nuys unit in 2025 we roofed about 1,875 square feet in a reflective charcoal shingle with a solar reflectance index above 20, priced and scheduled together with the array, and the system was switched on in June 2026 once the utility matched the unit to the parent property's address.
