Solar panel repair and service in Los Angeles

Cali Energy repairs and services home solar across Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley, in Burbank, Glendale, Calabasas, Simi Valley and Santa Clarita. Failed inverters, systems that stopped producing or reporting, module and microinverter warranty claims, and systems another company installed. Our own crews do the work under CSLB #1032379.

Solar service calls fall into four groups: a failed inverter, a healthy system that has stopped reporting, a module or microinverter that needs a warranty claim, and a fault where the system connects to the house. Cali Energy reads the monitoring data and the utility meter first, so the crew arrives knowing what to fix, then handles the manufacturer's warranty case and fits the replacement. Across 14 of Cali Energy's inverter replacements on Los Angeles-area systems, 2020–2025, output came back to a median 99% of each system's own earlier level.

Signs your system needs service

  • The app shows a flat line at zero through a sunny day.
  • This month's production sits well below the same month last year.
  • The inverter shows a fault light or an error code.
  • The system shuts down after heavy rain.
  • The app stopped updating after a change to your internet or cellular service.
  • A breaker trips or feels warm. That is work for a licensed electrician: keep the panel closed and call.
Before anyone is dispatched we check the utility meter: exports on a sunny afternoon mean the panels are producing and only the reporting is down.

What we repair

Inverters

When an inverter fails, the array stops, or part of it does. We open the warranty case with the manufacturer, get the replacement approved and shipped, fit it and commission it. On a system with power optimizers, the new inverter has to pair with every optimizer before it produces: in Granada Hills that meant twenty-seven of them, and nothing on the roof was touched. In North Hollywood a six-year-old inverter failed inside its warranty term; the replacement shipped free of charge and went in during a single morning visit.

Across 17 of Cali Energy's inverter replacements on Los Angeles-area systems from 2020 to 2026, the new inverter appeared in monitoring a median 16 days after the first report (14 replacements with a dated report), and output returned to a median 99% of the system's earlier level (14 replacements with data before and after, 2020–2025). Systems that stopped reporting

When a site stays online with no fault and still reports nothing, the trouble sits in the data path: a router, a gateway, or a cellular network that has been retired. In Woodland Hills we read the data again before dispatching anyone, confirmed the system was producing, and the visit was never needed. Solar app offline or showing an alert?

Module and microinverter warranty claims

A module claim is decided by the manufacturer's quality team on evidence: high-resolution photos of the failure, the serial number of every affected module, and a claim form that separates physical damage from low output. We assemble that file and see the claim through. In Valley Village we replaced two failed microinverters under the manufacturer's warranty.

Systems another company installed

We take service calls on systems we did not install, starting with the paperwork that lets anyone pick a system up: the permit, the approved plans, the interconnection agreement, the permission-to-operate notice and the equipment list. In Northridge we kept the array as it was and rebuilt the service behind it with a new main panel, a 200-amp sub-panel and new conduit, carried the change through the building department and two utility work requests, and the owners received permission to operate. Leaks and roof work around the panels

A roof that needs replacing under the array starts with the panels coming off; a leak near the array starts with finding where the water gets in. Solar panel removal and reinstallation · Roof leak repair

How a service call runs

  1. Tell us what you see. A screenshot of the app, the error code on the inverter, a recent electric bill.
  2. We read the data first. The monitoring history and the utility meter show whether the system is down or only the reporting is.
  3. Diagnosis on site. Inverter, optimizers or microinverters, connectors, breakers and the service connection, under our C-10 electrical license.
  4. Warranty case. We file it with the manufacturer, get the replacement approved and shipped, and return the failed part.
  5. Repair and commissioning. The new equipment is fitted, paired and checked in the monitoring app.
  6. Production confirmed. The system is back in the app and producing before we close the call.

What moves the price

  • Whether the failed part is still under the manufacturer's warranty. The warranty covers the part; the labor to diagnose and replace it is a separate question.
  • Whether we installed the system, when, and what its contract covers. New Cali Energy installations carry 25 years on workmanship from PTO.
  • The equipment: a single inverter on a wall, or microinverters under the modules on the roof.
  • Roof access and the number of modules involved.

Solar repair questions

Does Cali Energy repair solar panels in Los Angeles?

Yes. Cali Energy repairs and services home solar across Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley, in Burbank, Glendale, Calabasas, Simi Valley and Santa Clarita: inverter replacements, systems that stopped producing or reporting, module and microinverter warranty claims, and systems another company installed. CSLB #1032379, based in Northridge; call +1-323-844-7777.

Do you service solar systems another company installed?

Yes. We start from the system's paperwork and a diagnosis, then repair what the system needs. In Northridge the array was sound and the service behind it was rebuilt with a new main panel and sub-panel before the utility granted permission to operate.

My app shows zero. Is the system broken?

Not necessarily. Before anyone is dispatched we read the monitoring history and the utility meter, which show whether the system is down or only the reporting is. In Woodland Hills the monitoring showed no production for eight days while the system kept producing; the cause was the home internet connection, and the visit was never needed. Send a screenshot of the app, and we will tell you which it is.

Is an inverter replacement covered by warranty?

The manufacturer's warranty covers the inverter for its term. In North Hollywood and Porter Ranch the failed inverters were replaced at no cost for the hardware. The labor to diagnose and fit the replacement is a separate question, set by who installed the system, when, and what that contract covers.
