18.99 kW rooftop solar — Sylmar
A 18.99 kW system in Sylmar. Installed 2025. One of the largest residential systems we have taken through LADWP interconnection in the Valley, granted Permission to Operate in November 2025.
Cali Energy is a local, full-stack-licensed solar installer and battery-storage company serving Sylmar — part of the City of Los Angeles served by LADWP. Because LADWP isn't on the CPUC's NEM 3.0 tariff, net metering in Sylmar stays more favorable than in neighboring SCE areas, so paybacks remain strong. We're based in Northridge and do every step in-house — solar panels, battery backup, roofing and electrical — under one CSLB license (#1032379: B, C-10, C-39). Below are real Sylmar installs, from a 2.4 kW rooftop to a 18.99 kW system.

Most of Sylmar is inside Los Angeles city limits, with LADBS permits and LADWP connections; in ZIP code 91342, 313 homes in unincorporated county and 122 in the City of San Fernando are permitted by Los Angeles County and by San Fernando instead. On a Sylmar house without one large south-facing plane, Cali Energy split forty-four modules across the east, west and south roofs, each on its own microinverter, and the 19.58 kW system had permission to operate a month after the application, in November 2025.
On a Sylmar house in 2020 the main service panel was replaced and the house rewired on its own permit, beside separate permits for the new roof and the array, and each of the three closed on its own record before the system was switched on that October. In 2024 another Sylmar house kept its 100-amp service: eleven modules connected without an upgrade, with permission to operate in October.
Main panel upgrades: how we do it →Five systems in ZIP code 91342 report to our monitoring. When the inverter on a Sylmar system we installed in 2017 failed in January 2024, the replacement was fitted eleven days after we opened the manufacturer's case, and communications were back before we left. On the 2020 house, a communications fault in 2023 was diagnosed with the manufacturer and the board replaced the day it arrived.
Solar repair: how we do it →Before the 2020 Sylmar array went on, we had the old covering assessed for asbestos, tore it off and laid twenty-five squares of composition shingle, finaled the roofing permit and registered a GAF System Plus manufacturer warranty on the new roof.
Roofing: how we do it →One licensed contractor covers solar, battery, roofing and electrical, so the job does not get handed between companies.
Based in Northridge, we know LADWP permitting and net metering inside out.
