Roofing in Simi Valley, CA: tile, shingle and roofs under solar
Cali Energy repairs and replaces roofs in Simi Valley under its C-39 roofing license: tile relaid over new underlayment, shingle torn off and rebuilt, flashings at chimneys and vents, and roofs under solar arrays, which we take off and put back ourselves. On Simi Valley projects the roofing scope is written out in full and sits in its own addendum beside the solar.
On our Simi Valley jobs, tile and shingle come up in roughly equal measure, from barrel and S-tile to architectural shingle, on housing largely from the 1970s and 1980s. The tile outlasts its underlayment, so the usual tile job here is a lift-and-relay with new underlayment and flashings under the same tile. Cali Energy roofs Simi Valley homes under its C-39 license and, with C-10 electrical as well, keeps a roof under solar with one contractor; on our 2020–2021 Simi Valley project the roofing, the panel upgrade and the solar ran under one contract, each scope written out and accepted on its own.
Simi Valley roofs
- Tile and shingle, in equal measure on our jobs here. Barrel tile, S-tile, dimensional and architectural shingle, and a synthetic slate tile roof we installed ourselves. Barrel and S-tile get profile-specific hardware and replacement tiles on site, because a few break on any older roof.
- Underlayment from the tract years. Tile outlasts the felt under it. On a roof from the 1970s or 1980s we look for the leak in the underlayment and flashings under the tile before the tile itself. Tile roof repair
- Fire-hazard parcels. Hillside lots along the Santa Susana range carry fire-hazard designations, and the pass is a wind corridor. A new covering there is a Class A assembly. Roof fire class, hazard zones and solar
- Roofs under solar. SCE approved 962 residential solar systems in Simi Valley from January 2025 to March 2026, and thousands more sit on roofs from before. A roof under an array is repaired with the array off and back on. Removal and reinstallation in Simi Valley

Roofing written into the contract
On our December 2020 Simi Valley project the agreement covered solar, a service panel upgrade and roofing. The roofing scope went into the contract as a full written specification, down to drip edge color and ridge shingles, and the three scopes sat in separate addenda so each could be accepted on its own. The roof went on, passed its roofing final, and the array followed. A contract review in Simi Valley · Solar, roofing and a panel upgrade in one project

My Simi Valley tile roof leaks. Do I need new tile?
Not when the tile is sound. We lift the tile, replace the underlayment and flashings beneath it and set the same tile back; the roof inspection tells you whether yours qualifies.
Can you reroof a Simi Valley house that has solar on it?
Yes. We take the array off, replace the roof, set new attachments flashed into the new roof and put the modules back, under our C-39 roofing and C-10 electrical licenses. On our July 2025 Simi Valley project the array went back on the finished roof.
