The San Fernando Valley is its own solar market, and treating it like the rest of LA is how systems end up mis-sized. Start with the heat: Valley summers run noticeably hotter than the coastal side of the hills, and air conditioning carries household usage — and bills — through the long cooling season. Usage profiles here differ from coastal ones, which is why our systems are modeled on your actual bills, not a countywide average.
Second, the utility map. Most of the Valley floor is the City of Los Angeles, which means LADWP — its own net-metering programs, its own interconnection paperwork, its own inspection rhythm, all different from SCE’s. Burbank and Glendale run their own municipal utilities entirely, and the Valley’s edges — Santa Clarita to the north, pockets along the rim — are SCE territory. Which side of a street you live on can change the billing program your solar runs under; we file for all of them, from an office that sits in the middle of the map.
Third, the housing stock works in your favor. Much of the Valley is postwar single-story homes with large, simple rooflines and good sun exposure — favorable geometry for a clean solar layout. The flip side: many of those roofs are decades old, which is why a meaningful share of our Valley projects are roof-and-solar builds — re-roof and array as one coordinated project, one schedule, one point of responsibility. That combination is exactly what the C-39 roofing and C-10 electrical classifications on our license exist for.

Valley summers generally create higher cooling loads than coastal areas, which raises summer electricity usage. Whether solar reduces your costs depends on the home’s usage pattern, utility rate, roof conditions, system cost and expected production. The heat itself matters too: panels produce slightly less in extreme temperatures, and we account for that in the production model your proposal is built on, not discover it afterwards.
It depends on system size, roof material and battery scope. What California law fixes: the down payment is capped at $1,000 or 10%, whichever is less, and payments follow completed work. You get a line-item quote after a free site inspection — details on our solar page.
