Solar panel installation in Valley Village, CA
Cali Energy installs and services solar panels in Valley Village. Of our two systems here written up as case studies, one was switched on 24 days after the LADWP application in 2020, the other, on a newly built two-story home, 35 days after it in January 2024, and we have been back to both since.
Valley Village is part of the City of Los Angeles, with LADBS permits and LADWP as the utility, and its ZIP code, 91607, also takes in part of Valley Glen. On our Valley Village projects LADWP set the net meter 24 days after the application in June 2020 and 35 days after it on a new house in January 2024. Cali Energy, a licensed solar company (CSLB #1032379), files the application, installs the solar panels and services them afterwards.

Valley Village homes
- ZIP code 91607. About two-thirds of the permits LADBS issues in 91607 fall in the Valley Village neighborhood council area and a quarter in Greater Valley Glen; Valley Village itself also reaches into 91601 and 91602.
- Houses from the 1940s and 1950s. Of the 3,927 single-family homes in 91607 on the LA County Assessor roll, 82.8% were built before 1960; half by 1948.

- New houses too. One of our Valley Village systems went on a newly built two-story home with a basement.
Our Valley Village projects
The part was free. The labor was a separate conversation.
A newly built two-story home on microinverters, connected 35 days after the LADWP application, on 10 January 2024; two failed microinverters were replaced under warranty in 2026, each reporting again.
Thirty-five days on a new Valley Village house
For the new house, we filed with LADWP on 6 December 2023, and the utility reviewed the application and completed its site evaluation three days later. LADBS issued the service release on 28 December, the meter request went out the same day, and the net meter was set on 10 January 2024. Permit to PTO in Los Angeles
Twenty-four days in 2020
On an 8.8 kW system in June 2020, LADWP issued the meter spot three days after our application, finished its review on 18 June and set the net meter on 25 June, 24 days after the filing. The network went away
Coming back for service
We have returned to both systems: in 2026 for two microinverters that failed a month apart on the new house, and in 2022 when the older system's monitoring went dark after the cellular carrier shut down the 3G network its modem used, with nothing on the roof at fault. How those were diagnosed and handled is on our Valley Village solar repair page.

Valley Village questions
Does Cali Energy install solar panels in Valley Village?
Yes. Two of our Valley Village systems are written up as case studies, a 2020 installation and a newly built home connected in January 2024, and we service both. We file with LADBS and LADWP, our crews install the system, and we come back when something needs attention. CSLB #1032379 · 19201 Parthenia St, Northridge · +1-323-844-7777.
From the LADWP application to switch-on, how long did it take in Valley Village?
24 days on our 2020 project and 35 days on the new house in 2023–2024, counted from the application to the net meter.
Valley Village or Valley Glen: does ZIP code 91607 change anything?
No. Valley Village and Valley Glen are both Los Angeles neighborhoods, with LADBS for the permit and LADWP for the connection, whichever name is on the address.
Who services a Valley Village system after it is switched on?
On our two systems here, we did: microinverters replaced under the manufacturer's warranty in 2026, and a monitoring outage in 2022 traced to a cellular network the carrier shut down, not to a failed part.

Planning solar in Valley Village?
For a house being built, send the plan set and the date the service should be energized; for one already lived in, a recent LADWP bill and a photo of the roof. If solar is already up and something looks wrong in the app, a screenshot is the place to start.
