Home battery installation in Simi Valley, CA

Cali Energy installs home batteries in Simi Valley with new solar or beside a system you already have: Tesla Powerwall, Enphase IQ Battery and SolarEdge Home Battery. Simi Valley is on SCE's Net Billing Tariff and buys its power through Clean Power Alliance, which pays a rebate toward a home battery; our two Simi Valley battery projects are below.

In Simi Valley a battery does three jobs. It stores solar for the evening, because SCE's Net Billing Tariff pays little for exports. It keeps chosen circuits running through a Public Safety Power Shutoff, which the wind corridor and the hillside fire-hazard parcels here can bring. And it can earn a Clean Power Alliance Sun Storage Rebate of up to $2,250. Cali Energy has installed batteries on two Simi Valley homes: a backup panel sized to the battery's 40-amp output, and a wall-mounted battery on a house whose roof was already full of vents.

Why Simi Valley homes add a battery

  • SCE's Net Billing Tariff. New solar in Simi Valley exports at hourly values far below the price of the power you buy back in the evening. Storing the afternoon at home is what makes the solar work. Do you need a battery under NEM 3.0?
  • Shutoffs. The pass is a wind corridor, and hillside parcels along the Santa Susana range carry fire-hazard designations. In fire weather SCE can switch off lines; a battery keeps your backup circuits running while they are off. What triggers a PSPS shutoff
  • The numbers. Of the 962 residential solar systems SCE approved in Simi Valley from January 2025 to March 2026, 93.7% included a battery. In 2022, before the Net Billing Tariff, it was one in four of the 1,553 systems SCE approved in Simi Valley.

Clean Power Alliance pays toward a battery

Simi Valley buys its electricity through Clean Power Alliance, with Lean Power as the default tier; SCE delivers it and sends one bill. CPA runs a Sun Storage Rebate of up to $2,250 toward an eligible home battery: a $750 base for all CPA customers, $1,250 more for a home in an area frequently affected by Public Safety Power Shutoffs, and $250 for households on Medical Baseline or on CARE or FERA bill assistance. Funding is limited, first come first served, and the program's terms are set by CPA. The state's SGIP incentive covers SCE customers too; in 2026 only its income-qualified tier for new solar with storage takes applications. SGIP in 2026

What the battery can carry

A battery has a continuous output rating, and everything on the backup panel has to live inside it. On our Simi Valley project the battery's rating was 40 amps and the electric stove's circuit was 50, so the stove stayed on the main panel and everything else the owner asked for moved to backup: refrigerator, freezer, furnace, water heater, internet and general outlets. That conversation belongs in the design stage, and in Simi Valley we have it before the backup panel is wired. Whole home or the circuits that matter

How a battery installation runs in Simi Valley

  1. Site visit. Main panel, meter, the wall for the battery, and the circuits you want running in a shutoff.
  2. Design. Battery model and count, backup panel or whole-home gateway, placement with clearances on the plans.
  3. Permit with the City of Simi Valley Building & Safety.
  4. Installation under our C-10 electrical license.
  5. Inspection and SCE's storage approval, then the CPA rebate paperwork.
  6. Switch-on, with the backup reserve set and the app connected.

Battery questions for Simi Valley

Does Cali Energy install home batteries in Simi Valley?

Yes. Cali Energy has installed batteries on two Simi Valley homes, with the city permit and SCE's storage approval: a backup panel sized to a 40-amp battery output, and a wall-mounted battery on an equipment wall shared with the inverter and disconnects. Tesla Powerwall Certified Installer, CSLB #1032379, based in Northridge; call +1-323-844-7777.

Is there a battery rebate in Simi Valley?

Yes. Clean Power Alliance, which supplies Simi Valley's electricity, pays a Sun Storage Rebate of up to $2,250: $750 base, $1,250 more in an area frequently affected by Public Safety Power Shutoffs, and $250 for Medical Baseline, CARE or FERA households, while funding lasts.

Will a battery run my whole Simi Valley house in a shutoff?

That depends on the battery's continuous output. On our Simi Valley project a 40-amp output carried the refrigerator, freezer, furnace, water heater and internet, and the 50-amp stove stayed on the grid. Whole-home backup takes more battery capacity, and the site visit settles how much.

How many new solar systems in Simi Valley include a battery?

Of the 962 residential systems SCE approved in Simi Valley from January 2025 to March 2026, 93.7% included a battery, with a median system size of 8.2 kW.
