Solar panel removal and reinstallation in Burbank, CA
Cali Energy takes solar arrays off Burbank roofs for roof work and puts them back on new attachments. On a Burbank house in 2025 the modules came off in a morning, every old penetration was sealed so the house stayed dry until the tear-off, and three weeks later the original array was back on the new roof and in service the same day.
A detach and reset takes two visits, set against the roofing schedule. The first takes the modules off, makes the wiring safe, stores the modules flat and removes the rails and attachments, sealing every old opening. The second, once the new roof is on, sets new attachment points flashed into the new courses, resets and re-levels the rails and reconnects the original modules. We hold both licenses the job touches, C-10 electrical and C-39 roofing.

Why the array comes off
A tear-off that stops at the edge of an array leaves the oldest, most penetrated, least accessible part of the roof exactly as it was, under the one thing on the roof that is expected to last twenty-five years. When a Burbank roof is replaced, the array comes off so the roof can be rebuilt from the deck up across its whole area, including everything that was underneath it.
Two visits, three weeks apart
- 17 September 2025, morning. Modules removed and stored flat and protected; wiring made safe.
- 17 September 2025, afternoon. Rails and attachments removed; every old penetration sealed so the house stayed dry until the tear-off reached it.
- The roof. Replaced in full, including the area under the array.
- 6 October 2025. New attachment points set and flashed into the new roof, rails reset and re-leveled on them rather than on the old positions, and the original modules reinstalled, reconnected and returned to service by the afternoon.
Who does what
The modules, the wiring and the attachments are electrical and roofing work at once, which is why we hold both the C-10 and the C-39 classifications. On the Burbank project we surveyed the array and the roof together and scheduled both visits against the roofing work. Roofing in Burbank
