Solar panel installation in Hidden Hills, CA

Cali Energy installs solar panels in Hidden Hills, where the Hidden Hills Community Association approves the plans before the city reviews them. On our Hidden Hills house, a new build, the association signed off six days after the city application, the 18 modules went up in a single day in January 2025, and SCE switched the system on in August 2026.

Hidden Hills is its own gated city. Its Building and Safety reviews a solar permit once the Hidden Hills Community Association has approved the plans, and Southern California Edison is the utility. On our Hidden Hills project the association's architectural committee signed off on 16 December 2024, six days after we applied to the city, and SCE switched the system on with permission to operate on 6 August 2026. Cali Energy, a licensed solar company (CSLB #1032379), applied to the city, installed the solar panels and filed with SCE.

Hidden Hills homes

  • Association first. The city's Building and Safety looks at a solar application once the Hidden Hills Community Association has approved the plans; on our project it asked for them the afternoon we applied.
  • SCE, without Clean Power Alliance. Southern California Edison serves Hidden Hills, which shares ZIP code 91302 with Calabasas but, unlike Calabasas, is not a Clean Power Alliance member.
  • Newer houses, bigger systems. The city has 653 single-family homes on the LA County Assessor roll, and the median one dates from 1976. SCE approved 16 residential systems in Hidden Hills from January 2025 to March 2026; eight of them came with a battery, and the median size was 18.5 kW. Home battery backup

Our Hidden Hills project

What the Hidden Hills association asked for

The association's architectural committee approved our Hidden Hills solar with conditions: four full-size plan sets to stamp and have the owner sign; no work on Saturdays, Sundays or holidays; trucks parked only on the lot or the parkway outside it; and, at the end, the association's own inspection of the finished work.

Solar on a house still being built

Because the house was under construction, the mounts and the conduit penetration were flashed into the underlayment so the roofers could lay the shingle around them, and three feet were kept clear on both sides of the ridge. The array was finished early in 2025, but SCE told us a new home gets permission to operate only once its permanent service is in SCE's billing records. After that, the application filed on 15 July 2026 was approved on 6 August, with exports credited under the Solar Billing Plan. Solar with SCE

Planning solar in Hidden Hills?

Is the house being built or already lived in? Send the roof plan or a photo of the roof. We prepare the full-size plan sets the association stamps, then take the permit through the city and the interconnection through SCE.
