Solar Panels
The main component is the solar panel, or photovoltaic module, made up of small cells that convert sunlight into electricity. Light hits the dual-layered photo cells, usually made of silicon. When photons from sunlight strike silicon, they dislodge electrons, creating movement within the layers.

This process results in one of the photovoltaic layers becoming negatively charged and the other positively charged. Free electrons are guided through metal contact plates into conductors, linking all cells and producing electricity that flows through the system as direct current (DC). An inverter, the system’s final component, then converts DC to alternating current (AC), which powers household devices.
